You are proving why most lottery winners end up bankrupt. I wouldn't give a dime of it to anyone. I would invest it all in tax-free muni's, live solely off the interest, and then only leave about $1M total spread among various charities. The rest would go into trust to be invested in perpetuity with only the interest being available to my heirs. I might throw $100K to my high school in my will.

My HS doesn't need any money. I'd rather give say $225 mil to the poorest HS, so that they'd have better classrooms, technology, scholastic and athletic facilities, resources, etc., etc. than the richest HS in town. It would be interesting to see what happens when the HS no one wants to go to suddenly has facilities no one else could dream of.

Why the hell would I give them money? To show off or something?

St. Jude's? A frick ton.

This x infinity for obvious reasons.

Plus, the idea around donating to a high school and all that is if it was the catalyst for your success (e.g. pro athlete, captain of industry). In a scenario in which I won the powerball, my high school wouldn't have had anything to do with my financial status.

College maybe and that's a big maybe. High school though? Why in the hell would I give my high school anything?

Think the OP is the kind of guy that would do it so that his name is painted on the high school football stadium and so he can be the star of the show of the 20 year reunion

Since throwing more money at a failing high school has ever worked before.

I went to a small private school so I would build them a new high school per their new master plan.

$0.00. I have little to no nostalgia for my high school, aside from maybe 10 of my friends that I keep up with from there.

Ole Miss I think would get a few hundred grand though.

That's a pretty sharp way of looking at it. I never thought of it like that but you're absolutely right if we're talking about Powerball.

$0.00, because the Baton Rouge diocese shut my school down. I would, however, try to establish a new catholic high school in south Baton Rouge that would exist outside of the jurisdiction of the diocese. Those arse lords won't get my money.

$0.

That said, I would donate a good amount of money to both ASU and TCU, and probably a little to LSU. I would also set-up a scholarship for select posters who have posted on TigerDroppings for at least two-years.

I would assume that it is contingent upon the recipient being restricted to studying either petroleum engineering, plant operations or welding.

Nurse did you go to BRMHS?

Nah I went to SMHS(Scotlandville). Great school until school board decided that letting the neighborhood kids and the magnet kids mix was a great idea. Then it went to crap fast.

Mikel.....I don't really keep up with EBR politics tbh. I left BR almost 10 years ago so I'm not really familiar with where ST George even is. I just know the public schools suck. I'd have no problem donating to worthy BR charities though.
