Rank lists were due 2 days ago.

Should have asked this question earlier.

This part is the key: " Job opportunities not a factor and you can afford to live wherever you'd like within the city."

That would lead me to say NOLA, Charlotte, Birmingham.

If I couldn't afford to live wherever I'd want within the city, I'd move NOLA to third place.

I guess Birmingham

Not that Birmingham is a better city, I just think Nola is a good city if you were single, and charlotte would be a good city if you were married with kids.

My parents are married and their kids (my sister and I) are gone and they have lots of good times in Birmingham

wow, more legitimate answers than anticipated.

I'm leaning Charlotte/Bham/Nola, but the truth is we have little control over where we move... If you know anything about the National Residency Match Program then you know what I'm talking about.

March 20th can't get here soon enough.

I have a Hood Pass and several white T's, so I'm not afraid of black people.

Now that's a different wrinkle as to this determination. What specialty are we looking at?

NOLA for the win. Then Charlotte. Last place goes to Bham. Birmingham is nice looking, great topography, and has pretty family friendly neighborhoods, but is as boring as can be with pretty awful food for the most part.

Citizens of Birmingham are also as cookie cutter as it gets (or thugs). So if you like dressing in golf clothes, drinking Michelob ultra, incessantly talking about Bama/Auburn football, and eating at shitty chain restaurants with a million kids running around, then Bham is the place for you. Otherwise go NOLA or Charlotte.

Birmingham's beer scene shits on New Orleans.

I'm convinced - I have more experience with Savannah, less so with Charlotte and Charleston - but from the little I've seen, I put Charleston at the top.

Almost none of the negatives of places like Jacksonville or Miami. I do like Tampa, but haven't been there in years.

With a gun to my head, "live there forever, in the lower 48" - I think I go with Charleston

I'm pretty sure this is on the city seal for Charlotte.

Charlotte

Family friendly with jobs. That's what I need at this stage of my life.

For a bigger or major city, New Orleans arguably has the worst beer scene I can think of. To their defense, whenever I am in town, I'm seeking out a sazerac, gin fizz, bloody mary, etc.
