I have 140ish acres that will not be imminent domained.
It's "Eminent Domain" and you apparently don't understand how it works.

This is one of the biggest problems why nothing gets done in this fricking state. Every local mayor, rep, etc. all has their hand out and becomes an obstructionist when they don't get their way.
This is why most states have Regional Transit Authorities that can tell these small town mayors to get fricked.

Is this possible?
Thread the gap between DOW and the populated parts of Plaquemine, then parallel the Entergy lines north of the correctional center into Ascension Parish.
I can definitely see Plaquemine, Addis, and St. Gabriel growing a lot if this were built.

Well no sh&t! Of course the logical place is near Dow, the largest employer on the West Bank, which just so happens to he equally inconvenient from both the Horace Wilkinson Bridge and the Sunshine Bridge.
That's the obvious placement IMO.

the last study done by EBR firms found the northern loop going through EBR was the most logical, and now a WBR-sponsored study finds that a bridge in WBR is the most logical.
sounds like y'all are going to wait until you need both of them anyway

Current options for DOTD:
a. Ignore new batch of elected officials requesting options for a new bridge.
b. Study new bridge AGAIN for new batch of elected officials.
Until the Legislature actually allocate funds specifically for a new bridge...those are the choices.

Actually we need an east/west by-pass and a bridge to the West Bank south of 10.

Northern loop would do nothing to fix the clusterfrick that is LA 1 traffic south of the I-10 bridge

The only solution is to close Washington st exit and reduce 110 lanes to allow two lanes from 10 to flow.

I think it's considered more logical because a higher percentage of vehicles would be heading east...
not south/east to New Orleans..
not south/east to New Orleans..

Washington street exit needs to be moved from the outside lane of I-10 EB to the inside lane of I-110 SB since the powers that be are scared to piss off the local residents by completely removing this exit.
Move the exit a little north so it's the Terrace Street exit and that will eliminate the jackasses who cross 4 lanes of traffic to exit onto Washington in the middle of the I-10/I-110 merge.
And this is a waste of money and redundant since there are exits at government Street, highland, and dalrymple, but apparently closing Washington street is racist.

I think that plan has been proposed. The issue isn't necessarily people trying to exit on Washington, but rather an entire interstate squeezed down to one lane. They need to use the existing footprint to extend a merge lane close to Dalrymple.

I'm sure its been asked already but how much did this study cost and how big of a kickback did BR's esteemed mayor get?
Posted on 3/22/17 at 8:12 pm to upgrayedd
This may be way outside the box and possibly an engineering no no (don't know too much about road construction) But could they sort of double decker the interstate?
I've see loops and on/off ramps that tower over other road construction in some big cities..
I don't know, just spitballin'

Oh it's an issue. Traffic on S/B I-110 trying to exit onto Washington does just as much damage to the flow of traffic as does the traffic coming off the bridge trying to continue E/B. It makes the choke point even worse
No way should there be a Washington street exit.

I know it's an issue but not the main issue. It's certainly a contributing factor.

HWY 30 was already scheduled to be expanded near I-10 in Geismar. One of the quickest options that would still use existing roads (while waiting for a doubtful loop to be built) would be to put a bridge crossing from White Castle/Bayou Goula to HWY 30.
Please make this happen. The Plaquemine idea is good and would cut my drive to the camp in half. White Castle to HWY 30 would cut it even more.

Agree this would be great, but do you realize how many years it will be before anything like this will come to fruition?
Posted on 3/22/17 at 8:38 pm to tonydtigr
Don't care. My camp isn't going anywhere. Just the potential gives me a boner.
