Bunch of my fratbrothers from some aristocratic Shreveport high school got the same Rolex for a graduation present. I'm stuck with a mediocre Omega Seamaster.

I don't mind Rolexes (I don't have one either), but they're sort of lame for anyone under the age of 40 or so. Omega's good for the younger set.

If I were in the market for a statement watch (~$10k) it would no doubt be this.

ETA: How's that for a random internet picture having the correct date?

I was very close to getting a Marathon before the prices went up. IIRC, they were about 2/3rd of what they are now. I haven't ever put one on though, but I was worried about the height.

You have pretty weird taste so what's cool to you isn't going to be cool to the majority.

At least not as cool as wrapping an iPhone in plywood.

I'm happy with my Omega Seamaster and Luminox 3900.

I don't design anything, outside of the plywood iphone, so someone obviously thinks the shite I buy and want to buy is cool enough to make.

My dream job is to be an industrial designer...but I didn't even know that existed until it was too late.

Everything I like has an understated, sort of over engineered vibe to it. At first glance though, it all just looks plain. I'm not nearly edgy enough to be hired as a designer.

It was cheap...but still the favorite watch I've ever owned. Seiko Flightmaster. Classic stainless chronograph.

No. He is just one of the many habitual liars of the OT.

That $10k watch you posted looks no different to me than any other watch out there that you were denouncing in your OP.

That's is what watches have become since the age of smart phones.

I used to feel naked without a watch.....now I only wear one when the wife and get dressed up for a night out.

I think you missed my point. That Blancpain is no G-Shock and it sure as hell doesn't have a bracelet.

You are correct. It has a crappy canvas strap. I expect more from a $10k watch.

My former boss had a few IWC that were legit.

I had a $300 Junkers that I loved but the crown broke off.

Currently wearing a g-shock because I can't find anything I want for sub $500.

There was a brand called Bathys that made a legitimately cool dive watch a few years ago but I think they went under.

You didn't have a single upvote, so I gave you one. I'll also post a pic of what watch I think is cool.

That's the watch I wear now. Grew attached to it from the other poster who has a pic in this thread I believe. Looks really good with a NATO strap as well which I would have never thought when I purchased.

Just realized this an old thread I've already posted in. Saw a post from myself and was convinced my account had been compromised for a good 2 minutes . Then looked at the date and vaguely remember the post.
