well I don't really go to multiple events

maybe a "guy" shower and the wedding?

and yes, in that situation I would only buy 1 gift

As far as the couples shower, thank goodness my wife wanted nothing to do with that noise. Those are horrible experiences.

You must know nothing but boring people, or all my friends and family are just awesome. The couples showers I've been to have ranged from crawfish boils to BBQs, to basically tailgating for a game. I don't think I've been to a bad one, let alone horrible.

Yes. For weddings that my wife or I are standing in we will often get one big gift for the couple and bring it to one of the showers.

It honestly all depends. But we've typically gotten them each a really nice, single gift from their registry. But if we don't see anything that makes sense, we'll get a more moderately priced gift from their registry and then bring a small item to other showers (a few tools to honey do shower, bottle of wine to stock the bar, etc.)

One of my absolute best, most trusted, awesome employees, is getting married at 7 pm on Saturday, November 5th.

If one of my siblings was getting married Nov 5th I wouldn't go.

I would never go to a wedding shower on LSU gameday.

The way I was raised - menfolk do not go to "showers." The only shower I went to was for my first child, because I had to drive an extremely pregnant Mrs. Midnight to said shower

Sorry to hear that. The way I was raised, Couples wedding showers yield a shite load of tools and hunting gear and shite like that because many couples bring a gift for both of them.

Do you even know him? Outside of work?

If it's a casual work acquaintance, just decline and tell him you're a season ticket holder.

You sure make it sound as though you aren't really friends. If you are, tell him the truth on how this is not how showers operate.
