The guys NEVER go to the shower. Wussification of the American male

I met a chick I banged for awhile at the last shower I attended. As long as there's booze and some single women, I'm fine with it. Just go outside and smoke a joint when a girlie game starts up.

How about you be there for your friend instead of being a whiny bitch

He already said he just works with the guy. From his description, they aren't really good friends. I'd be surprised if they'd even hung out that much prior to this. OP would need to clarify.

If anyone who wasn't a close friend asked me to be in their wedding, I'd have to think long and hard about it.

Here is your problem. You don't have to do anything, Mary.

every shower and wedding I've ever attended, it was always deemed that 1 gift, whether at the shower or the wedding, was the acceptable practice

I can think of much worse ways to spend an evening to say the least.

I agree, the couples showers I've been to have been kick in the arse. It's just another name for a big party with all your friends. Now if the people involved aren't friends I guess that would be another story. Last one I went to was more or less a pool party. Devolved into music, drinking and swimming and a bunch of chicks in bikinis. WTF is there not to like about that?

I have been invited to their couples shower.

I believe they call this a "honey-do" shower and it's extremely common. It's also common for people to host their own.

Girls get house stuff, guys get tools, liquor, ice chests, house stuff, etc.

Sounds like you're miserable

One of my absolute best, most trusted, awesome employees, is getting married at 7 pm on Saturday, November 5th.

As far as the couples shower, thank goodness my wife wanted nothing to do with that noise. Those are horrible experiences.

doing those things is far more acceptable than being a groomsman in the wedding and coming bitch to the OT about it and rag on your friend

Directly related to your ability to socialize like a normal human being and/or the quality of your friends/family.

So you go to multiple events and eat and drink and enjoy the festivities, but you only buy one gift?
