I have to go to a couples shower

Guy at work asked me to be in his wedding. He's cool enough so I agreed. He's marrying what sounds like the most immature 21 year old on the fricking planet. That aside, I have been invited to their couples shower. I made fun of him for this but he just goes with whatever she wants.
Check out all the faux pas so far -
Couples shower - lame as frick
Throwing own shower (own house) - weird as frick
Handed out invitations - lazy as frick
Asked me to bring drinks - huh? cheap as frick
Then tells me his fiancé is getting fed up with people asking her who LSU plays that day. Lucky for him, it's South Alabama.

The way I was raised - menfolk do not go to "showers." The only shower I went to was for my first child, because I had to drive an extremely pregnant Mrs. Midnight to said shower.

Couples showers get an irrational amount of hate on the OT, presumably because they require decent social skills to enjoy and this place is severely lacking.
They make perfect sense IMO. Get together your friends and family for a meet and greet before the actual wedding chaos begins. I've enjoyed every one that I've attended and it has enhanced the bachelor party experience and the wedding itself.
I can think of much worse ways to spend an evening to say the least.
