Was leaning towards spending around $250 for a new driver but just went to DICK'S and saw I can get a nice set of irons for around $400.

My question is with that budget, should I get a driver or the irons?

I shoot between 93-100 and have been using a top flight set for 3 years now.

ETA: already invested in lessons

I've often wondered...why aren't golf threads on the more sports board?

Yeah,
Upgrade irons first, the other prices you put together. Irons are the foundation of a set.

There's so many components to a golf club and swing. Lessons are stupid. Watch you tube videos and practice until your hands blister and bleed. I went every day for 4 months and one day it happened. Then buy clubs.

I'll sell you a solid set of Cleveland tour action irons, and a Taylormade burner driver for $350. I shot in the low 80s with that set, so you know they're good.

I would find a used set of irons for 250 or so off eBay and a decent used driver for 100-150.

Then wedges, then hybrid(s), then putter when u got the dough.
