Serves you right for planning a wedding during football season.

well in fairness the wedding was earlier in the day, and we had a a few hours after before my team played, so plenty of time to work it in and still see the game at the reception.

Hurricane Season - 99L NHC 50% - East Coast of FL then Westward? by Duke
Yeah. Only one I can remember hitting the central gulf in October was Lili and she hit really early in October.

and really began to peter out just before landfall as I recall.

Juan was obviously messed up. Showed up late and didn't know where to go
yep so true, lol! I remember it well. Caused a lot of flooding on the coast as it looped around. Brought a pretty decent blow to the BR area as I recall. But was pretty much a sheared mess.

I'm bringing the folks down to Pensacola two weeks from now. How concerned should I be?

NHC is now monitoring two areas. They have shifted focus for 99L west but that might keep it tangled up with Florida.

Both the Euro and GFS move a small vort max west into Louisiana. Potential for maybe a weak TS, given the setup.

Looked like most models shown had it moving somewhere around Florida then looping around into gulf then towards Louisiana.

Still way too early but GFS had a pretty powerful hurricane in the Gulf at around 240. Looked like it went into the Pacific then back into South America then hits the Gulf. Had it then curving into SW Florida and into the Atlantic. Thought it was interesting but no way to know that far out.

That's the GFS for you...

It was pretty funny because it had the hurricane in the Pacific, hits South America weakens, goes into Gulf, strengthens, then hits Florida.

Juan was the 3rd hurricane to hit the central Gulf coast in 1985. That year is rarely mentioned as a big hurricane season, but I know people in S. La remember it well.

His story was out of order.

The low pressure ended up in the GOM after it came through Central America.

That is a track Christopher Columbus would have been proud of.
