There was a real Jersey map I saw somewhere that ranked towns along the Shore according to trashiness. I think basically the community where they shot the Jersey Shore was like their version of New Iberia.

To be fair these folks were probably from Philly. Nobody in NJ is driving down to Atlantic City to go be trashy on the beach. Plenty of trashy beaches further north.

Every summer when I'm wondering around Sag Harbor I find myself thinking the same thing. I wish this place would class itself up like Biloxi, gulf shores, orange beach, etc.
The Redneck Riveria is so much nicer than say Bar Harbor or The Vineyard.

When i lived in jersey (north/central) we would always go to avon or belmar. When i moved outside of philly, everyone there wanted to go to wildwood or ocean city. Beaches were always nicer in central jersey, plus six flags is on the way which makes for a good stop
