Speed bump(s) is the best route... Call and hound the city council

Also ask for more signage like the ones that say kids at play and stuff

Get neighbors involved, particularly Grandmothers there are some tough women.

tl;bsrtwt (too long; but still read the whole thread)

So in nine pages why is there no suggestion to bring in some electronics? Sensors, speed-radar and most-importantly cameras -- aimed at both the driver and license plate. Money-grubbing governments (ahem...) I mean caring public servants have that crap all over.

Sheesh, cops have long had access to camera-based systems that can read and identify a license plate while both cars are doing 100+ MPH.

Whip up some D-I-Y stuff. All you need is that plate number to quietly pass along to your friendly neighborhood gendarme. Ask the Nissan Frontier who somehow has found the way to now drive respectfully (under 50 MPH) down our street.

If you know anyone who's a cop get them to come and wait for them. If it's the same time everyday it will be really easy.

This is true

we were having a similar issue in our subdivision And looked into speed bumps but it was going to be too complicated... What we did is actually lowered the speed limit within the subdivision. We (the HOA ) also hire an off duty deputy to patrol our subdivision...these two things have helped with the slowing down of drivers

Thanks for all of the helpful comments guys. And thanks to the shiteheads for the typical BS. I've ordered the flag man sign that was suggested earlier in the thread. I think using this and a few other tactics mentioned here should sway the drivers to slow down and be more alert. Hell, I'd just be happy if they did the speed limit.

The OT delivers, thanks guys!!

a construction cone on each side of the flagman wouldnt hurt either. Would keep mr safety man from getting hit.

When I was in school I lived in a family neighborhood off highland just off campus, neighborhood didn't have side walks and the street was just wide enough to get two cars to pass each other at a slow speed. I know my neighbors didn't like that college kids moved into several houses their area, but they always like us, it started with drive 15 mph down the street and waving to everyone. That is a lesson my future kids will have hammered home from me.

if these obstructions were placed in my street, I would stop get out of my vehicle and throw this shite back in your yard. Instead of inconveniencing ever person in the neighborhood how about you don't let you child play in the street

I know, right? It's actually illegal to place objects in the road and obstruct traffic.

What is it about backyards that some parents here find so objectionable? Little kids shouldn't be playing in the street and older kids are old enough to know to lookout for cars.
