my mom is super soft-hearted and always trying to help the down trodden.

well, I'm sure like other people, we have some major frick ups in our family and it seems like my cousin has decided to go clean for the hundredth time. He doesn't have any particular skills, is pushing 30 and has a kid.

She wants me to help him get a job at a plant (after I had to explain that I couldn't hire someone who didn't know how to program).

Anyone, in the plainest possible speak, what does he have to do to get a job at a plant?

He's got a strong back, and I guess people who will vouch for him (not me, but I love my momma and said I would help)

Plant jobs aren't exactly auto-hires like some would lead you to believe

yeah, but that ain't my problem.

I hate hearing my mother cry, so I have to do something and then wash my hands of it.

Why work at a plant? With that resume, couldn't he be a cop? Like, probably a supervisor or something?

Like someone said, getting started with a contractor is probably the best way unless you have a really good connection.

He's going to need a TWIC card so he might as well apply for that now.

Oh, and if he can't pass a drug test, he's wasting his time.

Well, you can forget about him being employed by the actual plant. He needs to try SGS. They pay descent for guys like your cousin, he will be loading or unloading cars etc.

Get clean. Go to turner or one of the other big contractors and get a helper job. Once he gets the job go to night school and learn a trade.

This is absolutely easiest way to get in a plant and start making good money right away. The good thing about contractors is they tend to work their asses so much he won't have a lot of time to party. Just gotta watch him when he gets a week off and has $5k in the bank.

This is a handy site to get on lists of plants who use contractors and temp help from this pool.
BR Career solutions

And also hit up the big names like Cajun and Turner for their job websites.
