Took me two years of Ptech school in Reserve. Left retail after 25 years. Applied constantly for the last year. Lots of rejection emails. Half a dozen interviews. Got hired as an operator 11 days before I graduated.

It's tough. Most people go work for a contractor to get some experience.

My mother said the same thing.

Bc he is a frick up and he's going to frick up and it's not going to be on my dime.

I will help family by giving them direction but he's gotta do something for himself. I honestly feel bad for his kid, but not him.

But I would do anything for my immediate family, so I have to do this for my mom.

Yep

There are not a lot of openings to work direct for an owner

They like to contract as many people as possible to keep costs down

Smart move! If he fricks up, you'll have to give him chance after chance because of your mom. Let him feel the real world pressure thru a boss/super who will run him off the first time he fricks up.

I have an acquaintance who is very similar to this guy. I've pointed him in directions of opportunities several times. He has all but admitted that he wants a job that he can "party" all he wants and take off whenever he wants. I've decided the next time he hints to me about finding him a job, I'm just going to tell him he should just sell crack.

Maybe he could sell dope to the plant. Sounds like he's qualified.

Probably needs to try and get on with a contractor first and start learning shite

Scaffold companies always looking for strong backs. Hydro Chem also goes through some turnover.

$16 and hour to start with no education/experience isn't bad. But better be willing to get dirty and work hard.

1st: Get your TWIC

Option A: who are you related to? Do you have family they work in the plant as higher ups?

If not.

option B: Get on with a contractor and get your name and face noticed out there. If they pay for you to go to trade school then go. Then in a few years, try to make the jump over to work for the actual plant.

yep. Theoretically I could get him a bs help desk job since we outsource it, but then I would still be on the hook for him.

I don't even think he'll make it four months living clean.

But the twic card thing helps.

And I guess it's not that hard to apply to a temp agency, right?
