Let's assume a country like Russia, China, or N Korea invaded the West coast. How far would they advance inland?
Wouldn't every single soldier be dead in the Pacific Ocean before they got anywhere near the West Coast?

They would make it to the rocky Mountains. By the time they advanced past that, the Military bases in the fly over states and Militias would stop it there.

It actually sounds like a really good way to straighten this place up a bit.

Let's say they take Ney York and head for D.C.

The Appalachians are still formidable, we blow out any bridge they could use, the people in the country I can assure you are heavily armed, and they're still fricked. You're severely underestimating how redneck the populations of Upstate New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia are.

Honestly, invading Texas would be a better strategy. You're not making it far with motorized vehicles in a place that has hundreds of bridges and mountains instead of a flat plain.

I'm confused.... do some of you guys think citizens armed with glocks and hunting rifles can fight against a modern military ?

to answer the op question the invasion would be unsuccessful because of our great military. Also, any invading military would be coming from thousands of miles away and there is no element of surprise.

Geographically speaking the south would be even harder than the west to invade. The Gulf is relatively small compared to the Pacific coast and somewhat closed in. The Coast Guard and Navy would have a field day with any invading force.

People on this website has a strange fixation on ideas that the south is the only armed area of the country. This might blow your mind but there are rural areas all along the west coast. California also has heavily conservative areas as well.

I think you underestimate the armed populace and firepower held by our citizens in certain areas of the US. You are misled if you think US citizens hold pea shooters and basic shotguns.

I can comfortably tell you where they would not come from. If it did happen, you'd see a mass migration to the Southeast by all of the pussies everywhere else

Nothing impossible from the West....until they hit Texas. Even the Japanese knew that in WW2.

I'd call that an invasion.

The Japanese invading the Alleutian Islands would also be an invasion.

Yes. For reference imagine if they take over New Orleans. Citizens then blow up the I-55 Bridge, the I-10 Bridge going to Biloxi, and a bridge going to Baton Rouge. What are they going to do? They're fricked. The military becomes incredibly slowed down and will be picked off one at a time until there a mutiny and they leave. And if they make it to Baton Rouge, there are another few bridges we can blow up to make sure they don't get further. The Americans won't have a mutiny and they'll continue to shoot at them any time they come out of their car.

Assuming they could even establish a beach head, they would be slaughtered if they ever attempted to make it over the mountains. The American people are simply too numerous, too obstinate, and too well armed to be conquered from without. We only allow ourselves to be defeated from within.

Not so sure. If they used NW Alaska as an invasion point, the terrain and weather alone would be a huge disadvantage. Also the lack of roads would make it easy for guerrillas to destroy key access points vital to troop and supply movement.

Seriously, go to Pennsylvania and tell me they don't love guns as much as the average Mississippian. Any redneck who would ask this question really needs to leave the South for once in their life.

Japanese tried in wwII. There is a joint base near Anchorage (F22's) and an air base near fairbanks (f35's and f16's)

Might not be that easy.
