How much trouble am I looking at if I buy a low mileage 987 Cayman or Cayman S? Is the IMS bearing thing overhyped or a real concern?

Just buy a new S65 coupe and it'll be under warranty. Plus, people won't laugh at you for driving a Cayman

Nothing quite as baller as a vehicle that screams "I wanted a 911, but this is the most I could afford."

I'm not sold on the back end, but the entire rest of the car is amazing. The amount of engineering in that one car is insane

Why not just budget to fix the IMS issue? Personally I would prefer to pay a little now to avoid paying a lot later when the engine grenades. The fix is well known and takes care of it and will probably help your resale value.

Get a 997 CS4. If you just want to play around on the weekends and you can turn a wrench, buy a 996. The 996 might be the best deal out there right now. I've seen them as low as $11k in good shape. $700 for the IMS fix and haul that sucker to the race track and have fun.

911 will be here shortly to tell you the Cayman is garbage.

Vette will be here shortly to tell you the Cayman is garbage.

The rest of the OT will give you shite for your subtle brag.

I'll tell you the Cayman S is a sweet car and you'll enjoy it, but after the warranty is expired you best be prepared if anything needs repairs.
