25.5% in federal taxes on my reported gross earnings.

A hell of a lot higher % than most millionaires.

Thanks bush.

That's not your effective tax rate is it? You don't have any deductions?

I'm a company man. I got da W-2 blues come tax time.

Every penny I make gets reported to the I.R.S.

And sure, I can deduct my medical expenses, including health insurance premiums for anything over 10 freakin percent of my AGI.

I didn't have life saving experimental surgery in 2015, so no medical deductions.

I did itemize with a house and ended up with about 11k in Sch B deductions.

The part that bothers me is that 45% of America's make so little money that they do not even qualify to pay taxes. Trickle down is one of the greatest lies ever sold.

Both my wife and I are the same, we're contractors but both on government contracts. We can't hide a dime...oh well.

Remember. Payroll tax is a federal tax on your income starting at dollar one.

Everybody that works legally is paying federal income tax through payroll deduct. They take it out of the checks and it's the same % for everybody on all your income until you get to around $120K for single (goes up every year).

Payroll taxes pay for the social programs that we like to bitch about around here so at least give the working poor credit for contributing at the same rate as everyone else for that.

They might claw some of it back IF they have a family and can claim a EITC, but not all of it.
