Check spirit prices 6 weeks out.

My last like 4 flights have all been 200 or less round trip. i usually fly by myself though which always seems to be way cheaper than booking for a whole family.

My most recent flight is MSY-FLL on SW for $88 RT for 2 people

I was actually looking at some of those today.

On Southwest you can get super low fares (<$50 each way) fairly regularly out of MSY to DAL, FLL, and MDW if you're flexible with your dates and times.

Yes and DEN too. Plus I have the SW companion pass (BOGO tickets on SW) thats why $88 for 2. Don't want to confuse people.

Yea, Spirit isn't bad. Even United is better than SWA(SWA is NEVER cheapest when I look)
Also might look into LAX out of the country, and then how much to get there. I have family in Irvine I can stay with.

Around 600.00 for work, around 250 if I get to wait it out.

You got the idea Good luck.

Don't forget to credit your miles to a US based program for ease of use in case you fly a non-US airline.

Yea, at least when traveling domestic, I also search on Kayak, then go to Delta or American's website to book. Plus, I have miles with them.

I know this sounds idiotic, but what do the "wanna get away" fares mean with Southwest? I've never flown with them.

Other than IAH, LAX, and DTW, what are other good launching points to Asia? SEA? SFO?

ORD. Served by China Eastern, Asiana
EWR is served Air China
SFO is served by China Airlines
SEA is served by EVA

Best options in bold.

You're right. I was talking about just the "launching point" itself. Chicago might be a good option. Lots of cheap flights to ORD on Spirt from MSY. Or MDW if you can connect on SW.

The answer is somewhat dependent on where I'm departing and where I'm going.....

Yea, ORD was 620, with 117 RT on Spirit. Would have to stay 2 nights in Chicago, but my friends live 15 minutes from ORD, and one, would love to send some things with me, to give to his kids in the Philippines.

If you want to save on flights your best best is to get an airline miles credit card, or otherwise fly in the middle of the week

I booked this week a long weekend MSY to Ft. Lauderdale on Spirit 93.00
