My entire life I've been told I was part Native American however recently I found out that is not true. This is thanks to ancestry kit I received and sent in.

Anyone else had something similar? Anyone really Native American besides someone told them?

I’m Greek. My ancestors fricked farm animals and birthed civilization.

Consumer DNA tests aren't definitive. There have been any number of reports about haphazard procedures and faked test results. Furthermore, nobody in the 18th and 19th century was doing a DNA test. Indian tribes had notoriously low birth rates, and as a result were very free adopt It's estimated that around 25% of the Cherokee were actually Europeans, principally Irish, living as Indians. About a third of Comanches were Anglo or Mexican. Your ancestor may have been a European by blood, and Indian by lifestyle.

That said, it seems like everybody wants to claim a Native ancestor, whether they have one or not. Ironic, because a couple of generations ago people would have been ashamed to admit it.

My dads grandmother was 100% Native American. I’m such a mix that I would never claim to actually be such, although my Dad still likes to for some reason. EDIT: I’m obviously white as hell but my younger brother is olive color year round. He got so dark in the summer, the neighborhood kids started calling him Mogly. Weird genes we have.

We're all afraid the US and Canadian Governments are going to sign a treaty giving them back all of North America, put us all in trailer parks, and make us work their casinos.
