TLDR:: The lied to my face multiple times to get me to finance through them at a much higher rate.
I totaled my car on my way down to AL last Friday.
I had a fractured foot and was on crutches so I didn't think I could get a rental, the dealership in AL had a price 2K lower than my home dealership could match.
I went to the dealership Monday to buy a new car to drive home to NC with ( 550 miles).
First the told me my credit score was 70 points lower than it actually is ( multiple mortgage approvals and even one denial from a credit union I never told them to apply through tell me this.)
So they told me since i was under 700 i had to finance for 8%. I told them to run it through MY credit union. They came back and told me I was denied, So I said well whatever ill refinance when I get home and have time to yell at my bank, since there's no reason I should ever be denied.
I called my credit union today and they told me They approved me at 3.1% and were waiting for info from the dealership to process the loan.
I called the general manager who was a complete redneck unprofessional Tpos, said " you signed the paperwork idk what to tell ya". I said yea you frick after you lied to my face multiple times. he said credit scored are different for car dealerships and thats why theres a 70 point swing. WTF?
I called Hyundai loans and they said they cant cancel anything and aren't interested in changing the rate close to what my bank is offering, and that its actually financed at 8.999%. Grrrr.
So as of now my only option is to pay the fee and have it refinanced through the bank, which will change me from 72 months to 66 and still drop the payment $50+ a month.
I've filed an official complaint through Hyundai about the dealership, who says they cant do anything because dealerships are independently owned, and I guess my next call will be to BBB.
Dealership is Team One Hyundai of Gadsden. NEVER go there.

#1 rule when buying a car go into the deal with financing already taken care of from a 3rd party.

You credit score will drop with so many people running it.

You sign on line after all that?
All of this is on you
All of this is on you

Why wouldn't you just rent a car vs. being rushed and forced to make an atrocious financial decision like that? Sounds like you fricked up

Run that bitch through their showroom glass. Nah, if you knew better you should have walked away.

1st there's a reason they're called stealerships
2nd, you need to take some ownership in this too; you should know your credit score within 10 points at all times so shite like this doesn't happen
Sorry you got royally fricked tho
Oh yeah, a shitload of Hyundai dealerships are POS

Just refinance with your credit union. Once you do this the dealership will have a charge back on the loan.

I got a good price on the car itself that my home dealership couldnt match and I knew I would wind up refinancing through my credit union anyway. I am just pissed they lied to my face multiple times.

We just got 1.89% through our credit union.

I've never bought a car before and this is why.
I think I'll just save up enough and will walk in one day and use a money order as my bargaining chip.

I'd be more mad at myself for choosing to drive a Hyungai

Learn from it, and walk into the dealership with credit union financing in line. If you thought you were getting gamed, walk away. If you didn't realize it, you didn't prepare before buying.
Yeah, they are scumbags, but don't waste all of your time bitching to everyone under the sun blaming the world for getting gamed.
