Reggie took the place of Kal Penn.

And the "some say" part is not being factual...it is what it is

Now you're putting words in my mouth. Where in this thread did I say it was the ONLY way? I didn't.

Gay people only make up like 4-5% of the population. Everyone else just pretends to accept gay lifestyle to appear progressive but in a voting booth in private they wouldn't have to do that. No way one would ever win.

Sure seems to imply it.

You're literally saying a gay will never win an election because there aren't enough of them to put them in office. How is that reaching?

I didn't "literally" say that.

I said that, even though on the surface people will show support for one, I am skeptical that support would carry over to the voting booth on a national scale. However, a larger special interest group or demo would help offset that like over 90% of all blacks voting for Obama for example. IDC about a local lesbian being mayor here or there.

Guess large city simpletons struggle with reading comp.

ETA: I like how I go from "implying it" to "literally saying it" IYO.

Most of Obama's voters were white.

56% of his vote in 2012 was white in a 72% white group of voters, and he lost the white vote by 20 points.

Can you explain that a little further for me? If 56% of the votes Obama received were cast by white voters, wouldn't that mean the majority of Obama voters were white?

That is correct, and I wasn't saying he was wrong. But that is an abysmal performance with respect to the white vote and is indicative of how crucial the minority vote was for Obama. I actually didn't realize how big the gap was to be honest.

I'm afraid I'm still not getting your point. What part is abysmal? If a candidate gets 56% of the vote from every demographic, he or she walks away with the election. Are you saying that 72% of the total vote is low white voter turnout compared to historical averages?

Alright, I've re-read your post about five times. Either you need to work on your sentence structure skills or I need to improve my reading comprehension.

Fair enough, it was pretty unclear.

56% of his vote was white. But he lost the white vote as a whole roughly 60-40, and the white vote is 72% of the population. The minority vote really helped him a lot, particularly in Ohio and Florida.

It wasn't unclear.

1000 voters. 720 are white. I receive 600 votes, 336 are from white voters (or 56% of my total). This means, however, that 384 white votes went to my opponent. Therefore, overall, I lost the white vote.
