We cut short our vacation and back into town on Saturday because of the flooding only to find Cox cable and internet out at my house. That was around 1:00 on Saturday. It's still out now.

Tell me about it. I mean I know shite happens but 3 day outage with no idea when it will be fixed is horrible. Really could have used internet to help communicate with family.

I get that - shite, often unexpected, can and will happen. But it's a really bad look when Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile never missed a beat while the two largest communications providers in the area, Cox and ATT, both failed miserably at the most critical time.

Cox in Denham took water around 11 am Saturday morning. Cable service stopped about the same time. They took about 4-5 ft and water just cleared out this morning.

I know this because my mom lives close by.

Their Headend in Denham had 3' of water in it. They had to power it down and are in the process of getting it cleaned up and back online ASAP.

People love to beat up on the cable companies and rightfully so but I can tell you without question that Cox sets the standard in the Cable TV/Broadband industry in terms of having the best Critical Facility & outside plant infrastructure. All of the other big broadband communication (Cable) companies are light years behind Cox.

With that said, I would remind everyone that Baton Rouge is recovering from a once in a life time event and should remember that communications is going to be spotty for a while. Im sure Cox will be providing some credits to their customers that are being impacted by this long term outage.

I didn't flood. Nobody in my neighborhood or surrounding neighborhoods flooded. Cox has still been out since Saturday or maybe before I went out of town Thursday evening

I understand but the building that has all the fiber and IT gear that pumps Internet, phone and cable to your house did flood and is damaged. I just pinged some folks I know at Cox Corp on when they expect to have services restored in that part of BR and will update when I hear back.

What in the world did people do before cable and cellphones? It's a wonder out species survived.

That said, surprisingly, my DirecTV hasn't gone out once.

You can still get every local channel with an antenna, the HD picture is surprisingly good
