How long does nicotine stay in your system?

I'm not a smoker but I smoked a couple of cigs tonight and forgot my job tests for nicotine. How screwed am I?

Just say you used to be a smoker and wear a nicotine patch occasionally when you get cravings. I figure nobody could dispute that.
