Hmm, if I welded a swivel and mounted an AK to it, I could survive Mad Max style until the RZR ran out of gas or I ran into a gang of assless chap-wearing ne'er-do-wells.

I don't think people realize how soon the natural resources would be crushed. I forget the number of people but the carrying capacity in the US for people just relying of wild food is crazy small. Like less than a million. You HAVE to be able to grow some kind of crop.

That's the trick. You might be able to shoot 19 of the first desperadoes but that 20th one could very well get you. And if he doesn't then there are a 100 more who are willing to risk it all for your stores.

Gotta keep it low key and pretend to just be hanging in there.

You don’t need electricity to play golf.

Just my family we would be fine indefinitely. Have a big farm, pond, etc we can be(and actually right now are about 70%) completely self reliant if we need to be. Already have hand pump wells in place for use during hurricanes so water is not an issue and plenty animals on site and grow a big garden so food is not an issue either. As others have said the only concern I would have outside medical emergencies which you can't really do much about would be the folks that are not set up like we are trying to take our stuff. What I think would happen most likely is that whatever is left of the government will direct all their resources to the largest population centers so a lot of the folks who cannot do for themselves will head to those areas and flood them beyond capacity. Their they will turn on each other and likely kill off a lot of themselves and exhaust those areas first giving those of us way away from those places a chance to get well established and set up protective groups with those around us.
