Yeah, but plantations, if they are kept up, are pretty. I don't think plantations are being kept open to "show the atrocities of slavery". They are being kept open simply because they are historic, a part of history, they give us a glimpse of the past, and some are very beautiful. Destroying history just because you don't like what happened in the past, is the actions of irrational children.

Yeah but that kinda goes back to the point of the OP, the SJW's are destroying everything else, when are they gonna start destroying plantations?

Are people using plantations to talk about how awesome slavery was?

I think people choose wedding sites for picturesque beauty. I doubt the brides are sitting around looking for ways to be racist.

That’s definitely true. There is a lot to be said about antebellum architecture and rural settings.

I also get why people would bash it. Plantations were not a great place for most of their residents

Honestly, I’m shocked it hasn’t happened yet.

Let’s burn down both the new and old state capitols. Plenty of racists shite happened there.

Let’s burn down the super dome. Racist shite happened there.

This is the biggest bunch of bull shite. If they want to tear down a plantation then buy it and tear it down. Otherwise, they have no say in it.

Plantation homes should be used like the Whitney Plantation is, as a historical site that shows how both sides lived.

Or people can use them however the frick they want to use them.

Not gonna happen. Are there statues of the former owners on the front lawn holding up whips?? Now that could be a problem

Plantations can be a setting to teach people about the horrors of slavery. The “Whitney” in Edgard actually focuses on the people enslaved there during tours.

Are Plantations busing in black children for a free cotton picking field trip and forcing them to turn in the cotton before they leave?

Actually... There is a really funny video about a field trip in Alabama that did that just that.

Why would anybody have a wedding at a plantation home?

Which is why most the residents left after the war... oh that’s right, they didn’t. They stayed and worked for the same plantation owner they had before the war. Revisionist history is killing this country.

Is slavery wrong? Yes. Were slaves whipped and beaten while trying to flee every plantation similar to how people are trying to flee communist countries... no

I dunno ...maybe because of the beautiful architecture, beautiful setting, and the fact that most are now setup as a venue for these type of ceremonies. Sorry if my use of common sense offends you.

Oh look, the Advocate trying to start shite again. Just the other day it was the attack on Coach O.

They should be booted out of the state if they can't support any part of it.
