Auschwitz is still standing in Germany where millions of jews were murdered. Why? as a reminder to people of the atrocities of a past society and to learn from our past. That and the jews aren't whiny sniveling excuse ridden progs.

same could be said about our plantations of the south, but ya know.#BLM

Already are. Every woke Karen has to cry about weddings there. Heaven forbid we take a place where bad things happened 150 years ago and try to make a positive out of it in 2020.

Ah, Fletch Lives, one of my favorite comedies.

Nicholls’ original Tillou can be seen in some of the background shots where there is a Nicholls banner.

I know it was just a movie, but I didn’t know Thibodaux had an airline that serviced it, and you drive along the river near the Sunshine bridge to get between it and the city.

My best friend's parents bought an old mid 18th century plantation home and fully restored it. I'm going to call them and tell them how racist they are.

I think it was Ryan Reynolds, the actor, that had to apologize for getting married at a plantation.

Yeah, but plantations, if they are kept up, are pretty. I don't think plantations are being kept open to "show the atrocities of slavery". They are being kept open simply because they are historic, a part of history, they give us a glimpse of the past, and some are very beautiful. Destroying history just because you don't like what happened in the past, is the actions of irrational children.

Are we having weddings and girl scout sleep overs at Auschwitz?

At my office we have prints of plantation homes hanging on the wall. They are still there because they are nice prints in nice frames, but we have had discussions about whether they should be replaced so as not to offend any visitors.

You're a pussy. White liberals are the biggest group of losers on this planet.

You should switch your tampon out for a full fledged beach towel. That flow is super heavy.

Ya think?

Like you said, the ones that are well maintained are beautiful, classic, historic, old homes. It is a bit of a glimpse into the past.

To the dweebs that are, for whatever reason, concerned (offended?) by people choosing to hold events there I have an easy solution to solve your "problem". Just don't attend the event. Why do you care where OTHER PEOPLE choose to hold their event?

Most of them are privately owned, right? Much harder to go after that. And I will always argue that even places where horrible atrocities occurred should stand.

I think people choose wedding sites for picturesque beauty. I doubt the brides are sitting around looking for ways to be racist.

Either way, I could not care less. Everyone is entitled to get married wherever they want as long as they can afford the venue.

If they do, then this is seriously media just looking for a story to make something out of nothing.

There are black couples who get married at plantations. I know Nottoway in White Castle has black couple.. I am not saying on a regular basis as in every week, but enough to where when.. Well when I used to get the local paper, when you saw it, it wasn't at all something unusual.

One time I went to a wedding in St Francisville at one of those plantations. The cameraman was black and it was his first time taking pictures there. I ended up talking to him a few mins when he didn't have to take pictures at a certain point and dude was excited.. Talking about how beautiful it was and how it was one of the best places for talking photos, etc, etc.

While you know what they were once used for, I think any reasonable person, black and white, understands you can still appreciate them for what they offer today. And these pussy white guilt fricks are worse than anyone.

For those that host tours or events, Why wouldn’t they just donate proceeds to a group that does legit work to disenfranchised blacks?

Problem solved

Mine too. The wife's family lived in Thibodaux when the movie was being filmed, and a few of her cousins are in the choreographed dance scene when Fletch is daydreaming while on the plane:

Betty Lee (handing Fletch a mint julip): "Just look at 'em, Colonel. They've come to serenade you. They love you, so much"

Fletch (staring at woman's cleavage: "Oo-ho I love them too..." )

Plantations are similar to Nazi concentration camps so they will survive as true historical sites.

I've been waiting. If you were so worried about slavery that should have been #1 on your list.
