So back in the day, there wasn't a single white family anywhere that wanted their kid to go to a closer "black" school in their neighborhood, instead of a further away "white" school?

It was government so of course the solution was worse than the original problem

My grandma talks about this subject some. She said the black schools never got new textbooks, they only got outdated used books once the white school finished with them.
When deseg happened, it raised the level of education for blacks since they got equal textbooks and resources but for some reason the school as a whole went down. Probably cause kids (from both races) came with racist outlooks and spent more time fighting and acting out.
Now it seems like most whites go to private school and education is segregated again.
Not sure what's best but it should be obvious that giving black schools the hand me downs was really not fair.

Yup. And then putting them in classes where they had to compete with white kids while being told they were equal crushed their self-esteem. I mean imagine if you took a bunch of Asian kids and put them in a basketball league full of black players and told them they had the exact same chance at success because they were the exact same. They wouldn’t be as good and quickly would start thinking there was something wrong with them which would demoralize them. It’s messed up.

Society would have been better had the government just let the south naturally integrate and move forward.
All of the government meddling caused the people not ready to accept change to dig in their heels and it quickened the problems with integration.
So you had bussing and white flight coupled with the welfare system and the deplorable public schools and it became a downward spiral that we're still watching today.

Africa is filled with countries that have almost no diversity, how are their scores? How are scores in South America? It’s only the European and Asian countries that do well and it has nothing to do with if the school is diverse or not and everything to do with the fact the students are white and Asian.

No, the court said that separate but equal is inherently unequal because it creates a sense of inferiority, especially in the children. See the doll experiments.

Actually no it has to do with the education system and the governments in places like here investing in it. You realize we have American, British and French schools here that locals pay to send their kids to? They're going to school with Americans, British and French expat kids and do just as well as their foreign counterparts studying the same curriculum taught in our home countries.

That isn't really true, 480. Although they're skin pigment is similar, there are actually hundreds of different ethnic groups in each country.
