It's a consistent travel restaurant, so lots of people will stop at them while traveling through the area because they are around interstates. The food isn't great, but it's reliable and pretty much you can get something to make everyone happy.

Plus it's good travel food, it doesn't tend to give people stomach issues and need to shite on the road.

The food may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's consistent and the Cracker Barrel model is pretty smart - build right off the interstate to appeal to the folks from all over who want a hot meal that isn't fast food.

They have proven that you don't have to reinvent yourself like Ruby T's, Applebees, and the other chains that seem to always be on the verge of closing down. When is the last time they even made a menu change, much less redecorated the place?

I'm not usually a chain restaurant guy, but this is spot on. The food is good, not spectacular, but you know going-in what it is and how much you can expect to pay. I'm a big fan of Guy Fieri's DDD, but when you've got limited time or you're pushing closing time at night, Cracker Barrel fits the bill.

If you have time, do your research and have an alternative, but with picky eaters, they know what to expect as well.
