It's Oxford. How much traffic do you think there is?

Especially at 7:0 am and 7:00pm? There will be none except for football weekends.

And to answer your question, I drive 30 minutes one way but I live in Memphis. Would not want more than that.

It's quite a bit more than the country parts of MS. My current three bedroom place would be upwards of $1,200 for a nice apartment in Oxford.

2 hour commute one way.

The way I think about it is this adds 20 hours a week to the amount of work time.. 40 hour week into a 60 hour week.

Traffic is pretty bad there, but, you're right...between those hours, I avoid the rush.

I have commuted in big cities and small towns. It makes a difference. I drive about 35 minutes now, but it is virtually no traffic. I commuted about 40 minutes in DFW and Nashville. Some days it was close to hour in both places. I lived closer to work and it was a lot of traffic. My drive time is about the same, but my drive now is much easier and less stressful.

Working 12 hour shifts, 45 minutes would be my limit. I could see going beyond that for an 8 hour shift though.

20 minutes is better than 45 minutes.

12 hour day. You will be happy to get home nearly 1/2 hr sooner.

And on heavy rain days that 25 minutes you save will be more like 35.

My commute varies depending on which jobsite I need to be at, I drive anywhere from 30 mins to 3 hours.

I am just not sure I can handle living where I leave for work by 6-6:15 a.m. every day and then get home around close to 8 p.m. That is just a long day. I know that I would be making bank doing that, but still...that is about what I do now...I would be transferring to just better work conditions in the move.

Of course, I have friends in Oxford, I could just crash somewhere on occasion. Yes, I know I am thinking in my thread now.

I could do an hour commute if I never saw traffic of any kind, and I didn't have to get up at 4 in order to avoid that traffic.

In Houston, I live near Hermann park and work in Galleria area. Maybe 5 miles.

The commute home can be upwards of 30 min because of those bastards on the 59 spur. Traffic is what frustrates me

My max is maybe 10 miles. Currently I have less than a 1 mile commute.

Quality of life, gas, vehicle maintenance, etc...I couldn't imagine spending 1-2 hours in a car everyday day.

I go 35 into work and an hour on the way home. I don't mind the drive Monday through Friday.

I want to live closer, because it's a pain when I need to meet someone or do something in Baton Rouge. Nothing is worse than a commute home after a night out with friends. So take that into consideration, as well.

Yeah, I know it would be tough...since I know I will not buy until next year, I am just weighing pros and cons. I am thinking closer is better....it's not like either one is extortion.

Being 3.5 miles away for the last two years, and less than 2 miles away the seven years before that, I would say anything over 6 miles would suck for me.

I drive 30 minutes from Collierville to the Brooks Road area, and it doesn't bother me at all. My wife drives from Collierville downtown to the Orpheum everyday, she hates her commute which is 45 minutes on a good day
