Call the day before, chances are she won’t be needed anyway.

At least in Louisiana that is still not an excuse to not be in jury duty. It affects everyone that does it. It may not be "fair." But you and your wife aren't "special."

With a new Tundra and a year old bass boat and weekly excursions to the lake you shouldn't be hurt too bad by one week of your wife not bringing anything in. Unless you're living beyond your means.

Rodan and Fields. She cant go to jury duty because she's busy posting on Facebook about what an AMAZING opportunity she has for other overweight 35 year olds with a bob haircut.

Society is failing because it's smartest people refuse to have kids or serve on juries.

Tell me how I'm wrong.

Where I live, you can write a letter to request to be excused based on some type of hardship. Have her write a letter explaining that she is the family breadwinner and due to her self employment, it would cause a hardship for the family if she were to miss out on a full day or more worth of income.

ETA: just saw you said she's summoned for next week. You probably waited too long at this point to get excused for hardship.

All she has to do is call the clerk of court and explain that she has to take care of the children due to you being out of town. She then needs to ask if she can be put on a rotation further down the line and they typically will do so.

Kinda seems like she should've done this way before today but she might get out of it.

She's a speech pathologist.
Probably works a lot harder than you do.

You tell them "The prosecuting attorney is a family member of mine and I am a strong proponent of the death penalty".

Or "I hate black people".

Say any of those two statements, or both, and you're golden.

Tell your wife that she needs to have her manager schedule her for the evening shift. McD's still sells fries in the evening.

She did that last week before the deadline but still got a letter yesterday saying to be there Tuesday morning. I don't know if it was a mail overlap or if they just said screw you.

Unless they sent it certified mail there is no way of them proving you got the summons.

In Texas you get two opportunities to reschedule. After that you have to go or find a judge to write you a letter .
