To be a real one? Spend 20 years as a criminal investigator for a law encorcement agency and go to hundreds of hours of training.

To be like most PI's? Watch a season of CSI and take the state 150 question test.

If you can't investigate how to become a PI, it is probably a good sign you would be a shitty PI.

I had a friend who did this and said it was boring as shite. 90% of the job is sitting around in your car trying to catch some workman's comp fraudster cutting his grass or something. It's not glamorous.

exactly what I thought...sitting in a car for a week trying to catch someone's spouse cheating would not be a good job in my mind...

Don't forget to buy a ratty, fifteen year-old Tahoe or minivan and tint the windows really dark.

That's what all the ones drive that I run off from my parking lot.

Step 1: Be a roguish ne'erdowell type character who others might describe as "shifty" or "sketchy."

Step 2: Be friends with a divorce attorney, and go scope ouy the shite they tell you to.

Voila, you're a PI.
