Because the Democrat Party relies on identity politics to get support. They need minorities to be upset in order to have a monster to fight against so that they get funding and votes.
So they fan the flames of racial division because it's good for business.

1) Obama.
2) The media:
"A white Hispanic"
"We do not know the motives of the Ft. Bend shooter" ... "It's been reported that he was yelling Allah Akbar" ... "We think it's workplace violence "
I'm sure there are other examples.

Pretty much. I think 99% of the country is fine just getting along. Portrayed as worse than it really is IMO
ETA: but people are catering to that 1% so it seems bigger

Obama's constant blaming of the Republicans and Bush in particular. Broke with the longstanding tradition of new Presidents not blaming the previous.
The NEW media, the internet allows more anonymity and "fake news" from both sides. There used to be a time if media made up a story it cost them their career. Dan Rather went out this way.
Gerrymadering , across the country whether it be a GOP or Dem controlled process Gerrymadering has effectively made the primary the de facto election for 75% + of Congressional campaigns .Meaning the candidate only has to appeal to the local fringe element. Alienating 40 % ish of voters., thus leading to even more political vitriol

Whiteys are passed Obama became president. Plus Simple Donnie has been fanning the flames of hate and ignorance for nearly 2 years now. Compare Simple Donnie's campaign to Geroge Wallace's 1968 campaign and see what you get.

I feel like the tension is 80-90% in the media.
Ain't been any tension in my house except for when the little man decides to wail in the middle of the night

Race relations in this country are better than they have ever been. Unfortunately, that doesn't make good tv or a good Democrat wedge issue. Don't buy into the bullshite.

Seriously. I work in an office with black people, white people, Latinos, and Asians. All of us to a person just roll our eyes at the race-baiting bullshite that's so en vogue right now.

Aided by Obama and the media. Hell, you couldn't even criticize or disagree with Obama without a libtard calling you a racist.
Basically, the racial tensions of today rest squarely on the left and their continuation of identity politics and constant accusations of racism against anyone who disagrees with them.
But it cost them the presidency, the house and the senate.

The Trayvon (and subsequent) stuff coinciding with the peak of social media really kicked things up a notch.
