Lost about 1/3 of investment value. Had a friend committ suicide because some of his financial dealings went south. He left behind a good woman and two adorable girls. Sad.

It was a few months away from altering the course of my career in a really bad way. But I snuck into my job as a cheap labor just before the lock and took advantage from there.

1. Made it really hard for me to find a part time job in hs/college
2. Made my father delay his retirement by several years.

Lost my job as the company shut down the whole division. Whole industry collapsed. Weren't any jobs worth getting so I switched careers.

I had gone back to school and finished an advanced degree and graduated into the worst job market ever in the field I went to school for. So that sucked. It all eventually worked out though. Guess it was that white privilege doin' its work.

A girl I was dating at the time father built a massive multi million dollar place in Aspen in 2010. He was up there with Merrill Lynch in New Orleans. I always thought that was strange.

Mortgaged while they were estimating real estate at ridiculous levels (to pay off debts and get a clean slate).
Was quickly underwater when real estate reset.

I was a sophomore at LSU...never had to downsize from the sweet townhouse in lake beau pre I shared with my roomates, so I guess I made it just fine

I had a small dividend growth fund that I had since I was 15 quietly growing. My brokerage firm changed 4 times and ended up in Wells Fargo. The frickers charged a non preferred fund fee over the years and took all the value. I never checked the statements as it was only $2500, but Wells Fargo found a way to take it. Worst financial company ever.

I was a contractor for DirectTV averaging $300/day. They canceled all contractors in east Alabama and I went from clearing 75k to 0.

Im 2010 I joined the USMC. In 2012 Inpaid off all my debts while on my second deployment. I now have a 792 credit score and no debt but 14k on my 2020 car I bought in july and financed for 36 mo. I make just under 50k but I live in a paid for double wide. Life is decent.

I was/am in real estate. It went from feast to famine very quickly. I’m a saver and my wife makes great money so we were fine, but a lot of my coworkers and friends lost everything. It was hard to see.
That said most of not all have rebounded over the past 7 years and are back working and doing well.

I was working in the mortgage industry and for one of the only times in my life, really enjoyed what I was doing and was making pretty good money.
When housing prices crashed and lending underwriting tightened, I lost my job along with a whole lot of others.
Things bounced back for that business but I had already taken a different direction and couldn't really go back at that point.

My dad lost his job in 09 and had to take a lesser paying one for a few years. Because of this I had to take out some student loans for school.

Dad lost his job, went to the school with the best scholarship I was offered.

Expense account was powered down and I went from playing golf with clients 3-4 times a week (weather permitting) to taking someone to lunch 1x week.
So minimal.

Worked for Lehman at the time. It was a really great time to be alive.
