I am really considering a 2016 4Runner Trail. The only common problems I hear that they have are dash board cracks and front hubs/axle issues.

May consider a used Suburban Z71 as well.

Yeah they gave him a "free" car after he paid 4 times what the car was worth in dealership fees and gas I'm sure

may have been a work truck where all that is covered under car allowance. I used to have a similar deal

$900 a month

He looks like a pretty hefty fellow. I wonder how many drivers seats he's been through.

Those two vehicles ride very differently, IMO.

Around south Louisiana, the plants and oil services companies buy them in bulk.

You could practically steal them from the dealerships back when the serial killer was suspected of driving a white Chevy pickup.

True. The both appeal to me because I know they are both will last a very long time with a good maintenance philosophy and both would be my little protest against these lame minivan-based crossovers all over the place today.

I rented an 2016 Explorer Limited and I couldn't park it next to a curb without the front end scraping., and the whole thing creaks with even minor road undulations. The new Honda Pilot and Nissan Pathfinder look even more like minivans.

I remember when almost all SUVs were basically trucks underneath....I liked them much more back then.

Fuel efficiency is the only thing hurting the Tundra. They have to get better at it to gain market share.

I don't disagree, but not sure if this guy gives a damn. Let's say he got 18 MPG on the highway and he could have gotten 20% better efficiency in another vehicle, that only saves him $30,500 in fuel costs if you assume $2.75 per gallon average over the lifetime of the vehicle. If he thinks the alternative wouldn't have made it 500k miles before being replaced, he is ahead of the game.

he may not of paid for gas either. along with my allowance I got 56 cents a mile and claimed rest IRS allows.

There's been million mile vehicles before, but the timeframe he did this and that many of the miles were probably tow/hauling makes it amazing

Only? Hell, he could've almost bought a brand new truck with that.

Yeah, but that was my point.

If he believes he would have had to buy another vehicle during that time frame, it all comes out in the wash.

Plus, he got a new vehicle for "free" so it all worked out for him, regardless of the lower fuel efficiency.
