Hmmm, looks like he could have driven off.
Why run on foot?
Prolly not his I'm guessing.

Bc it's a whole lot easier to spot a fricked up avalanche than a fricked up person who runs into a bar.

Well if its his or a family members or a friends he's fricked. If stolen, abandon vehicle, don't return for beer, run a short distance, bob and weave through a few streets then casually walk into a bar. Have a few drinks and call someone to pick you up.

This guy is done.
He's gonna get cleaned out, not drive for a long time, and prolly have to drop out of school.
What a dumbass.

Truck wasn't drivable. Bumper pushed in onto front tires. Radiator crushed in and fluids all drained. Airbag deployed too.

Can't get them for DUI. Only leaving the scene of an accident. Happened when I was in school. Woke up to a truck flipping in Sharlo. Two guys get out stumbling and flee (presumably to their house in the neighborhood). Called the cops and that was what he said the driver (who I identified) would get a ticket for.

It's probably different when it's a single car crash like that.

This is worse than a DUI though, real hit and run

Is it a hit and run when the vehicle is left behind?

Yes, still hit and run, and likely worse than a DUI depending on whether it's felony hit and run.
