Ok. Sounds like you have it figured out then. Good luck!

so I would really cut her pay, probably in half if I had to drive the 30 minutes to her house everyday
you're not as nice as your think you are

you are more worried about losing your cheap convenience than about the liability.

You've talked it out with all these people and everything points to not letting her watch the extra kid at your house.

Sounds to me like you have it figured out but your guilty conscience won't admit it. That's a you problem at that point.

that is more of just my naivety, as I cannot fathom why someone would sue me for something I had no control over, as it is something I would not do

Go meet with the parents, then decide.

not it at all. he is worried that if he tells the girl no that she will drop him and watch the other girl from her house

he is paying this woman $600 a month and she drives and hour every day for work. so of that $600, she is probably losing around 25% to gas money.

what kind of job do you people have that allows you to work 5-6 hours a day? do y'all live in France?

My wife works 10-5, and I work 7-4, and we both only work about 5 minutes from home, so no long commute

as for the nanny, her and her husband ride together, she drops him off at work at 8 or hangs out at his work, then comes to our house a little before 10, then at 4, she leaves and picks up her husband at 5ish

not really sure what she does between 8-10 and 4-5, maybe run errands?

well at least she is not hanging out at your house like some Consuela. That's a plus

I would refuse using the reason that you don't want to be liable in any way if the other child were to get hurt or whatever.

10-4 during the week
6 hours/day X 5 days/week X 4 weeks = 120 hours/ month

($600/month)
$600 / 120 hours = $5/hour

Now we don't pay our nanny that much
Cheap. So, damn cheap.

It is

but she wasn't making any money being just a SAHM

she really only asked for $400/month when she started but we felt that was really too cheap

6hrs a day, 5 days a week = 30 hours a week

52 weeks x 30 hours = 1560 hours

600/mo x 12 months = 7200.00 a year

7200 yr / 1560 hours a year = 4.61 cents an hour.

If you trust her with your kid, as long as she's not bringing over a pedophile, I'd at least try it out for $4.61 an hour

I've never known of a 4 year old to be that big of a security risk.

You pay your friend $600/month? Can I be your friend?

Everybody's friends till this MF'er shows up.

Don't do it.

Besides to date the woman is babysitting two small crawlers. Throw a four year old into the mix and suddenly she's playing zone defense against a very mobile child while looking after the other two. It's a recipe for disaster.
