There's a place on 1960 that looks like a casino at night. Flashing lights and the works. Scared to try it though. It's a buffet.

Best Mexican IMO is Lupe Tortilla. Get the carne asada. Has a freaking awesome lime marinade and the tortillas are the best in town.

I know alot of people that agree with you. But I just don't get it.

Not even in the same stratosphere as El Tiempo or the Original Ninfa's, IMO.

was gonna say exact say thing. Can't hold a fricking candle to el tiempo. Maybe i hold higher standards for my food being from new orleans, but lupe tortilla is GARBAGE

I'm with yall on Lupe. I don't even care for their tortillas that everyone raves about. El Tiempo takes the win for fajitas.

Honestly thought when I moved to Texas I would have great Mexican and it's really not the case. Very underwhelming in Houston

My take on Lupe Tortilla:

Fantastic carne asada.

Charro beans that make me want to j in my pants.

Everything else is extremely meh. Oh, and I HATE those giant tortillas.

EDIT: But seriously, the best Mexican food in town belongs to Teotihuacan.

No love for Kettle?

Also El Tiempo

I've had to make day trips to Houston a few times this month and ordered El Tiempo to go on my per diem and brought it home for dinner. Scored some major points with my wife.

Original ninfas is best, but to send an out of towner to Navigation at night would be mean.

El Tiempo has better margaritas than Lupe. I will concede that. I am an admitted sucker for whatever lime marinDe Lupe uses for that asada.

Best Italian is Italianos or Amadeos

Best steak is Saltgrass

Best French is Chez Nous (it's one of the best in Houston)

Best Seafood is Pappas Seafood. The sides are mediocre, but the entrees are almost always well executed. Stay away from gumbo.

Pappacitos is better Mexican than Chueys

Best BBQ is Tin Roof

Best New Restaurant is Union Kitchen. Menu to please all palates and very good quality.

Best waterfront dining is Raffa's (worth the drive)

For sushi, many locals swear by Asian City, but I prefer Akashi Sushi in Kingwood.

For Hooters style waitressing with better mediocre food, go to Brickhouse Tavern

Completely agree on Chez Nous. It's our go to restaurant for special occasions. Would put it up against any restaurant in Houston.

Take 45N to Louetta Rd.

Rudy's BBQ

Zaxby's (I've never been there, but I hear about it on here).

Right by the casa. Pound of beef, pound of chicken, 6 shrimp to go. Every Thursday night. Drink 2 pops while waiting. The bartender places my order and has me a Corona ready when he sees me.
