"Say, bitch, we need to talk... I'm tired of Tre'Vontae leaving his used Magnums on the floor on my side of the bed. Last time, I slipped on one and twisted my ankle. " That's a good way to open the needed dialogue.

Tools for communication and resolving problems? Oh man, you are ate up. Those two things only exist between two men. You know, like two military leaders discussing terms of surrender or a foreman giving instructions. If God intended for women to resolve problems, one of them would've actually resolved something by now.

Stop being selfish.

Put her needs and wants above your own. If you set out to make her happy you will be happy.

Man up. Stop doing what you want all the time and do what she wants.

The above mixed with finding a church together, praying at home together holding hands and sitting down with your pastor will be all the help you need.

Good luck!

couples prayer

There is a program called couples prayer has been very successful I've been involved in before. Opening up prayer together can actually open up some vulnerability and allow the two of you to have discourse without the anger. Communication breaks down when anger pops up. Discourse in a prayer setting with the Lord acting at an intermediary really diffuses a lot of anger.

Its pretty powerful.

I second the marriage retreat. It was cheesy when we went through it to get married in the church, but as time goes on I think it would provide a great setting to reopen communications.

Coming to grips with your faults is way more important than pointing out hers. She has to realize hers, you have to realize yours. Ask her for help...you want to be better and she's your partner in life. Just be humble and honest and your love will shine through. Good luck.

Seriously, what do you want from counseling?

Try this before you start counseling.

Pick up a gambit.

Select three events that are not alcohol or food related.

Go canoeing in bayou St. John.

Go to Noma.

Go to zeitgeist or southern rep.

The talk to each other about your experience.

That must suck. I'd hate to have to admit I couldn't make something work.
Fortunately Mrs. Füt knows she's a LifeLottery Super Ultimate Grand Prize Sweepstakes Winner.
Seriously, good luck with this.
