What really sucks is your daughter will have daddy issues because you're not around. Ask your ex if turning your daughter into a stripper just to spite you is worth it.

It goes both ways IMO. Having children with people you don't want to spend your life with is not the best idea in the world.

Sucks dude, but things could always be worse. Some trick you could've slept with 8 years ago called in 2015 to tell you that you have a daughter....happened to my brother last year.
Fortunately, he is a stand up dude and is similar shoes where the mom is using his own kid as a pawn. They've gone to court and she's about to get another unfavorable ruling thankfully.
As Hammer said, keep your head up and be the best dad you can. She'll know what's up when she gets to be of age.

7th lucky for you in this instance your daughter is only 17 months. Be a dad when you get the chance. Like 33 said document everything and if you give her money document that too. My two youngest kids were with me every day for over ten years. My ex decided to take them up to Atlanta with her new bf right after the divorce was final (I had no clue). She used the courts to hide behind and I was left broke after the divorce so getting a lawyer at the time was out of the question. I had my oldest son and myself to take care of and get by. Fast forward almost a year and she comes back to jacksonville after a breakup with the bf. Trust me my two youngest know that my ex has screwed up alot. Just keep a open communication with your kids and trust me tell them if anything is said bad about you by your ex that you and them can discuss it. It will get better just live your life and love your kids

The OP has a legal right to joint custody unless there are other issues and the judge rules against it. Get a lawyer and contest it.

I am pretty laid back in here but this subject fires me up and how these ex wives frick good dads. It is a tax free paycheck to the ex wife and they can do what ever they want to do with that money they get every two weeks. Last thing what they say is gold and what you say is shite until you spend at least 3k to get a lawyer and go to court. You are still good in my book

To the OP, youre the father and you have rights as the babys father. You need to seek an attorney and get joint custody if that is what you want. she doesnt have the right to make unilateral decisions

It really irritates the crap out of me when a mother acts like a child is a piece of property/or an object that they possess and the father isn't allowed to have/see it.
I get the parents not liking each other or getting along. But a woman using a kid as a bargaining tool is straight up shitty. It sucks for the kid and father. And half the time, the kid ends up resenting the mom because she kept them away from their Dad or made up stories about him.
(No I didn't experience it as a Dad. But I did as a kid.)
