It is pretty petty to bitch about this when he could just have a salad but wanted to bitch about the price of the salads.
One thing that is annoying is when you order healthy options at a restaurant and everyone tries to give you a hard time and tries to get you eat less healthy stuff. It's like they want you to join them in their fatness. I can guarantee this would happen to the op if he tried ordering a salad.

it's like peer pressure for not drinking (at social events, especially)

C'mon bro is it that hard to realize after reading the op that he was going to roll up in there all sulky about having to eat pizza?
As long as he doesn't make any bitchy comments to people there, what's the problem? He hasn't said he was going to do that.

Guess I run with a different crowd. If one of my buds ordered a salad our group may ask if he's getting back in the gym, if anything at all is said.

You can still eat basically what you want? I have always had a fast metabolism but to stay really lean I really have to watch what I eat these days.

STFU and eat 2 slices of pizza it won't kill you, damn pansie

I mix decent balanced meals during the week and complete junk on the weekend. Like oatmeal and the cafeteria plate lunch at work. Then pizza, chicken wings, and whatever the hell I want on the weekend, but rarely drink. I've always been lean. The wife gets pissy with me because she has to keep a closer eye on things. I also generally don't eat dinner.
I do fifty push-ups on Tuesday and Thursday and run a little two mile route through my neighborhood Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I do this to stay healthy, not for losing weight. The dr recommended it.
Oh and I poop like thirty minutes after I eat... You could set a Swiss watch to it.

This is me exactly.
Except the rarely drinking part and the exercise part...And the lean part too.

Is it possible the OP has struggled with his weight and it took him quite sometime to conform to a healthy lifestyle? Maybe being strict and not having cheat meals allows him not to feel tempted and which could be a slippery slope.
But, 1 meal isn't going to hurt you, and if you lift it could actually jumpstart more gains.
Order a grilled chicken salad and also enjoy a slice of pizza or two.

Could be - but then don't complain about $10 for a salad.

Nothing magical happens when you hit 30 that makes your metabolism slow down. If you live an active lifestyle, and have decent genetics you can eat what you want well into your 30s and 40s. Going to the gym for an hour 4-5 days a week just isn't enough when you spend 17 hours a day being sedentary though.

Not for the average person.

The average person is already overweight. So you're right, I'm not talking about the average person.
