I'll post feedback when I get them tomorrow.
Just received the Audio Technica M50s and tried them out. Exactly what I was looking for.
Seems to be a quality product as far as the build. Lots of swiveling, turning, etc is possible with the 180 degree turn ear cups, but nothing feels flimsy at all. Very solid plug as well., don't think I'll have to worry about it suffering from any wear and tear for years to come.
This was low on my list of priorities, but the Audio Technica M50s look great. They're a lot less flashy than the Beats, which I love, but still look really slick. Also, they don't have the fingerprint magnet piano finish like the Beats.
As far as the sound, these are exactly what I was looking for. Sound clarity is much better than the Beats, and the bass is toned down, but not to where you feel it's all treble.
Sound leakage is minimal. These will be perfect for my office environment.
The price for these I doubt can be beat. I paid $130 on Amazon, and then they lowered the price to $119, so I got them to credit me $11 back. I really can't imagine a better value for <$120.
Listening to these and the Beats back to back, you can hear how badly the Beats' bass distorts the sound. After I listened to the Sennheisers and Beats back to back, I heard the same thing, and knew I'd never be able to go back to the Beats. Anyone still using Beats products should at least give some other headphones a shot. Good news is Beats are still "in" so if you replace them, you can still sell them used for top dollar. I highly recommend you do so.
Thanks for all the recommendations in the thread!
