Right one the highway going into FWB. You can't miss it, it's the only undeveloped stretch of beach along there.

It definitely gets better as you go East. We did Fort Walton and Destin when I was younger, but now when we want a cheap weekend trip we go to Panama City Beach. I'm there now, actually.

Yeah, I realize the Ramada is still there now... The Sheraton Four point is were the Holiday Inn was, and I believe Water Scape is were the Blue Horrizon was... Right across from Cash's and Fudpucker's..

No, the Sheraton Four Points was was built between the old Holiday Inn and the Ramada. The Ramada and the Sheraton Four Points are still there.

The Radisson (the old Holiday Inn) was torn down for Water Scapes. Summer Place is between Water Scapes and the Hampton Inn. We sold the the beach front part of our parking lot (2 acres) between our Radisson and Hampton Inn for the development of Summer Place for a little over $2 Million back in 2001. The Water Scape project was completed just a couple years after that.

There was a Johnny's Pizza there almost directly across from the Holiday Inn over where the Green frog was. The building is still and the last time I was there in 1993 we stayed next to the Islander.

We stayed at the Sandman for our HS senior trip in the early 90s. It was absolute chaos, the boozing, hookups, fights...chaos. One crew got sideways with the management and got kicked out and proceeded to utterly destroy their room, running away as the cops pulled up.

Was the first time I saw someone get sucker punched in the face and barely flinch. A friend/acquaintance (I knew he was tough but he wasn't a big guy really, maybe 6 and stout but overall a pretty normal looking guy) was having words with one guy and his rat looking friend ran up and jacked him in the face.

Been over 20 years now, but I still remember clear as day, fist hit face, buddy didn't move and, realizing what had happened, slowly turned to look at the guy, the guy, realizing what a stupid move that was ("oh shite" look on his face) and then turned and ran, buddy chased him but didn't catch him. Like straight out of a movie.

Years later I swear I'd see that rat guy out in BR from time to time.

Best thing about Water Scape (besides the lazy river) is that there is a strip club right across the street.

Looking at it now, I can see what you're saying... Jesus it has been really long...

It's the old Cash's Feaux Pas... Still has the liquor store though. Best club in the 80's IMO....

Use to live there in the late 80s and have only been back once since then. Guessing the .98 movie theater is gone also.

I like FWB. Its not as crowded as Destin and less expensive. We are staying at suite in the Wyndam Garden in FW later this summer. Its a recent renovation from some other hotel. The reviews have been mixed. Anyone stay there recently?

Its funny how 25 years has changed that area. My grandfather was diagnosed with cancer back in 1985, and in 86 he spent a year living at El Matador, right where the military beach meets public beach on Okaloosa Island, for his "coming to Jesus" time. Though I never had the privilege of meeting him, my grandmother still has his journal and photos of that area from back then. When he really wanted to get away from the world, he would often times drive to Destin, because back then it was a sleepy little fishing town, and Ft Walton had all the hustle and bustle. Heck, Im only 26, but Ive been going since I was 4, and its crazy how much its developed in the last 10 years alone. Destin and Sandestin are just ridiculous now. They are starting to revive Ft Walton a little bit, compared to how it was in the late 90s early 2000s. It got rather dumpy for a little bit.
