Do they still airbrush baseball shirts at those shops right before the bridge to Ft Walton?

Last time I drove thru the Destin/FW area I was horrified by how developed it was. I never thought they'd put condos past Jetty East. But they damn well did. I'd prefer a slower pace and fewer high rises myself.

Destin is just too much for me. My wife wanted to go last summer, and it was miserable. I much prefer Orange Beach or Gulfshores.

Love okaloosa island in FW

Likewise, we have a condo at Azure on Okaloosa Island and it's a great family atmosphere, if I wanna go eat in Destin it's a 5-10 minute drive, San Destin is highly over rated and packed, I drive there for the golf only.

We have two places in Ft Walton at Island Princess...love it there. Wish there were better bars/restaurants (i.e. not as 80's/90's looking), but that's about it....way better than Destin and Panama.

The last time I was at the Blue Horizon I saw a pool of presumably human blood on the sidewalk beneath the balconies and a prostitute arrested for giving a blow job underneath the pier going towards the beach.

Think it may be a seasonal hotel now. Still standing for sure though.

I've been going to FWB every summer for the past 12 years. I much prefer the atmosphere there to Destin. We stay at the Destin West right next to the Ramada but I've also stayed at Islander, Nautilus, Island Princess, Surf Dweller in the past. Walking distance to the Boardwalk, Sammys, Waffle House makes it a great time.

Like Yogi Berra said about Toots Shors restaurant, "nobody ever goes there anymore. It is always too crowded."

Fort Walton is miserable... please stay away.

And people on your way to Destin should only take the toll bridge and not expose yourself to FWB...

I have that condo booked for next week with the family. How did you like the amenities? Anything you would recommend or stay away from?

The Ramada is still there...

LINK

ETA: The Ramada still has the best pool area in the area. I love how the water is always cold due to the water fall. The splash park for the kids is great as well. If you start at the Destin West they give you access to the splash park and the Ramada pool.

We stayed at the Islander on Okaloosa Island last month for the first time and prefer it over Destin now. As people said before, it is much more family oriented than Destin and with a 3 yr old that was great. We'll probably stay on Okaloosa for now on instead of Destin. It's just a short 10 min drive if we want to hit any restaurants in Destin anyways.

Def more of a family type place now. Destin West is nice for that on the Bay side and it has the foot bridge to the beach side.

I tell people how wild that place used to be on Memorial day weekend in the 80's. Good clubbin and DJ's.....I might get the names wrong but how about Victor's or Night Town??
