We used to stay at the Holiday Inn. Did they tear it down completely and start over? Or renovate? I remember the sliding glass doors.
I use to run that property in 2001.
The Holiday Inn consisted of two buildings, the main 7 story high rise and the 100 room wing across the parking lot. An Israeli living in Atlanta, who I worked for, bought the property and converted the tower to a 299 room Radisson and the other wing as a Hampton Inn. The Hampton Inn is still there.
After trying to sell the Radisson with no luck, he put together the plans to tear the Radisson down and convert it to Waterscapes. He ended up selling the Hampton to Interstate Hotels and the Waterscape project for over a ten million dollar profit to other investors.
It was a great time running those two properties.
The Ramada is still there. Mr. B, the long term GM of the Ramada retired over a decade ago but it is still going strong.

I have that condo booked for next week with the family. How did you like the amenities? Anything you would recommend or stay away from?
Amenities are awesome, especially if you have kids...nice lazy river with a zero entry pool.. Bringing food works great, there's many gas grills around the pool... There's movies night on a giant screen firs kids as well.. Pretty decent gym, and easy beach acess which they have two beach chairs for guest..

Yeah, I realize the Ramada is still there now... The Sheraton Four point is were the Holiday Inn was, and I believe Water Scape is were the Blue Horrizon was... Right across from Cash's and Fudpucker's..

1988: Next to the Blue Ho was The Conquistador.
Drinking games. Sorority groupies. Good times.
And then there was the over-tanned leather faced 65 yr old beach bum woman wearing a yellow halter top who came down to our room with the "if ya can't beat em, join em" attitude and tried to score her some young buck, got lovey dovey with my skinny friend, as she offered him a massage, and yada yada yada, my skinny friend is now pastor of a church in Texas.
Hellz yea I got stories.

We just came back from there a couple of weeks ago and I had the exact same feelings. It's been about 22 years since I was last there.

They have a Sammy's in Ft. Walton Beach? Some of my best Navy memories are of Sammy's in Pensacola (right across from McGuires). Our DI was proud that we went in full dress uniform. Met a nice girl named Sunni(real name I'm sure). Need more like her in the world.

Is the Islander still there? Or the Breakers?
You thinking of Pensacola Beach? Because they have both there.

For the record, my skinny friend here is not the same skinny friend farm boy who you now affectionately hose off outside on your back porch.

Probably not ... But then again I may not be either! Lol. Thank goodness no one on here knows me from teen/college years.

Here's your chance:
Type the colon symbol, then the word cheers, followed by another colon symbol. All of that without any spaces.
ETA: I'm pulling for you.
