This is roughly equivalent to a male having his testicles surgically removed and his penis filleted, so we will take this answer as a definite "yes" for you.

Mahalo. And thanks Nick.

Senior year of law school. A male student shows up in drag and announces that he is a lesbian trapped in a man's body. And it changed my mind about TG people.

This individual was shy and his hygiene far less than ideal as a man. He was smart but plainly miserable and, to use OT terms, beta as frick. He looked every day like he'd just been beaten.

Dressed as a woman, this person was immensely confident and ultimately professionally successful. He (now she) is post surgery and has done quite well. It made me a believer that some people really are transgender. Think what you want. I know what I saw.

Victoria (formerly Michael) became the first openly transgender person to serve as a trial judge in the United States. And she was elected, not appointed.

Here is her Wikipedia entry. LINK

One of my brother's best friends through high school, who showed no signs, had frequent girlfriends, etc., turned out gay several years after high school. His mannerisms changed, and he was with one of the biggest flamers I've ever met at one time. My dental asiistant's mom became a lesbian later in life. Her husband was an alcoholic a-hole so I can understand. The daughter (my assistant) was married, and her husband talked her into a threeway. She decided she liked the other team better and dumped his arse. And she was hot. Be careful what you wish for...

Knew a girl in high school that was drop dead gorgeous. I tried to get her to go out with me a few times and never could. She ended up married had a kid, all the typical stuff. One day she dropped her husband and decided she was a lesbian.
When I found out she was a carpet muncher, I got a boner like I hadn't had since I was 14.
She's still smoking hot too.

Accurate. Pronouns are a little difficult here, and I don't mean these disrespectfully. He(she) was listed in the yearbook as Michael "Vicki" Kolakowski.

As Michael, he was married to a woman who was also a law student. I believe they have since divorced. The decision of Michael to become Vicki did raise some thorny legal questions concerning the status of their marriage.

By all indications, Judge Kolakowski has been successful and happy, and I am glad that she is.

ETA: I'd forgotten that he(she) had to sue to take the bar exam. I probably should have cared more at the time, but three years of law school beat most of the empathy out of you.
