I live 1400 miles from my parents. My dad has a fb account. He rarely posts but I know he enjoys seeing all the photos I post from my trips(or just in general). He always mentions them when we talk on the phone. Other fb friends may get annoyed by all the photos I post but I DGAF.....it makes my dad happy.

what if you don't live in the same city as your family?
FB has a purpose and if used correctly, can be a great tool

It may have been addressed in the thread already, but how bad were they obsessed with it or what was so bad an Facebook that deactivating was the best decision they ever made?
This. These threads always make me laugh.
I use facebook to keep up with friends and family I don't get to see very often. I dont see whats wrong with that.

Why would you feel the need to delete it and why would it make your life so much better?
I've backed waaaaaay off of Facebook lately. I haven't gone so far as to delete it, but it's ceased being fun for me. I used to enjoy occasionally sharing an update or an opinion or a photo, but now all it seems to do is draw unwanted attention. I don't feel I can be myself there anymore.

I've been off for 4 years and not once thought of re-activating. Back when I did it people thought it was strange that I didn't have an account. I think all the new mediums have distracted people from caring whether people do or don't have FB now.
The downfall of FB was letting mouth breathers without .edu email addresses join.

You know you can block people from popping up your news feed and they have no idea you did that?

Or they can just use fb....which more people use. So grandma can see those pics of her grand babies and also see what her other daughter is doing on vacation or keep in touch with her neighbor that just moved to a different state. All in one place.
Yeah you can use those other things as well....but for many it's just easier to use fb. Fb is only as annoying as you let it be. Tired of seeing a friend's 300 baby pics? Another friend's 500th post about advocare? Block them from your feed or defriend them.

I've never had a social media account.

I don't understand the big issue/drama people have with facebook. Why would you feel the need to delete it and why would it make your life so much better?

I deleted my Facebook account 5 years ago. The only thing I miss is keeping tabs on people you know but aren't really "friends" with anymore (I wonder what so-and-so is up to now).
Facebook went downhill after they allowed people without college emails to join.

Did it 5 years ago. Best thing I ever did. You can just sign back in and get your profile back, but I never did. Facebook sucks, IMO.

I think deleting facebook is the cool thing to do these days.
