More than you think. I'm not saying I only use FB for that purpose. I enjoy social media like most every other female on the planet. But...I also take advantage of ways it can benefit my family.
But take into consideration how many people don't live in the same state as their parents...more common nowadays.

FB was depressing for me a little over 3 years ago when I deactivated my 3rd acccount and haven't looked back since. I also deactivated a twitter that I briefly had 3 years ago. I'll stick to anonymous forums. Anyone that matters can email, call, or text me.

Like I said, there are plenty of other outlets to stay in touch with your family no matter how far you live from them. Your attraction to FB has nothing to do with being able to update your parents on what you had for dinner in Arizona. C'mon now.

Only thing I have as far as social media goes is my TD acct, and the admins deactivate it for me when I act up
Never had MySpace
Was gonna get Facebook until they opened it to everyone
I don't understand twitter at all
Instagram is for kids and attention whores
Pintrest is for women
Linkdin is just stupid
Not sure I missed anything, but TD FTMFW

No but I never post on or check fb anymore. You always need a fb in the spring or summer for the spring break/summer beach trip albums girls post.

Yes! Now, I use it to keep in contact with long distance friends and its not so bad.
Just how distant are these friends?

Had to. Girls from the past are very territorial and will drop little messages and picture comments here and there. They know what they're doing. Got tired of explaining who "she is" to my now suspicious and jealous wife.

Deactivated my account two years ago. I missed it for about a day or two. But then I realized it was a smart decision. I don't waste time checking crap like: what my old college friends made for dinner tonight or this is my co workers dog sitting on the couch..... I DON'T CARE!!!!!

Had it while I was living away from my family so she could see her grandkids, then decided to hang in to it for communication with old military buddies. However, I deleted it about 2 months ago and I feel awesome, although I'll have to open it back up when I need to hit up tinder again.

Did a few years ago and had to reactivate it for a school project. Going to take some time in the next month and untag myself out of all the incriminating photos, wipe the account clean, and deactivate.
Nothing but: "You won't believe..." or "You might find this surprising..." or "This person got a lesson in irony...."

What I like to do is announce to everyone on Facebook that I'm deactivating my account because I'm just too good for it. With any luck I'll get some affirmation in the comments section. Then, I re-activate my account after a while and announce my triumphant return and claim that I surrendered to immense peer pressure.
Do this about once every 2 years and you're good to go.

I don't always deactivate Facebook, but when I do, I brag about it to all my instagram, twitter, google+, and snap chat followers.

I have never looked at Facebook one single time in my entire life and I could not possibly care less.
