If so, what did you think?
Here's where we stayed:
Beachfront Grande Rondoval Suite
Food, Beach, Pool, Spa, and Excursions were all first class. We will definitely go again.

Well, my cruise ship advice is this: If you do RC or Celeb the Evening dinners are the same thing you get at the on board restaurants you pay for. They just rotate the menu's items. Paying for dinner on a cruise is a huge fail.

Yes, went to Ochos Rios Grande Riviera. Would strongly recommend.

Look at all inclusives in Puerto Vallarta. It's a great town never felt unsafe. It's cheap and there are lots of activities.

I wouldn't do either. Just pick an island, rent a villa, then travel around and find the cool places to eat and drink. Go visit other beaches and maybe even another island. Absolutely stay away from the yahoos in cruise ship port cities. All inclusive is just a bad idea from the get-go.

Why?

If you are a certified diver it is a pretty good deal. The dive boat goes out twice every day and you can go every time at no cost. The early morning dive generally is deeper and further out while the afternoon dive is a quick trip. I drank champagne underwater with the divemaster one evening as we were the only two on the dive. We went down to 40 feet and he popped the top and shook up the bottle and handed it to me. We drank that whole bottle in a few minutes. Pretty fun but I am sure his boss would not have been happy if he knew what he was doing.

It should go without saying, but surrounding yourself by people who don't think for themselves on vacation is the worst part. You lose out on the interactions that create memories, you are being served instead of being treated like a normal human. The best part of a vacation is bonding with the person you are with OVER the decisions you make about what each of you want to do. Again, you're on an island, not in Mexico City. It's not that hard to befriend a bartender and ask what the cool places are. IDK, I guess some people just want a bit more out of a vacation, but it seems obvious - albeit a bit hard to explain.
I've never been to an all inclusive and I never will do that or a cruise, unless it's one that's in the Mediterranean (still would rather not) or up a river in Europe.

The fiancé and I are staying at the Sandals Regency La Toc with the Caribbean Ocean Front room.

Went to Sandles La Toc a few years ago. We loved it. If u like sushi/hibachi, the place over there is pretty good. we visited all three while there, don't waste time on the Hylacon (sp), the grande was nice. La Toc is hands down the most beautiful. Do not miss out on zip lining, snorkeling or diving, the botanical gardens and the catamaran tour. When you get back, go jump in one of the pools with a swim up bar and get a frozen drink made with fresh fruit from the island. Then you should know what to do after that. enjoy the trip

I did a a lot of research on all the sandals resorts and La Toc seemed like the best choice! We have the zip lining already booked and plan on checking out the other 2 places. Did yall have to make reservations to eat? I'm really looking forward to this trip!! thanks for the info!!

Agree with everything you said Jimmy. Stayed at the Whitehouse back in '11 and can't wait to go back. If you didn't like the food at one restaurant, you just go to another one. Thing about a cruise is you have to watch your alcohol bill. Ms BSG and I had a $980 alcohol tab after a 5 day "free" cruise a while back.

Only at the Hibachi and Italian place (both were great). I think we did the Botanical gardens/Volcano/Catamaran all in one tour. Think it was called st.lucia by land and sea or something. We were actually talking about it the other night. We want to go back, but we like to visit a new place on each trip. St. Lucia is the only place we would re-visit just because of the islands natural beauty.
