Growing up in the country, all the home schooled kids were inbred, mentally retarded (one family was both), or a part of some freakshow Christian group.

Yes.

They seem pretty normal,,except for the social anxiety disorders and the lack of small animals in their neighborhoods.

My cousin did it and he's pretty normal. Gotta pretty hard core Oedipus complex going on, so all of his girlfriends have had his mom's features. But it's just brown hair brown eyes, not hard to find. No biggie really.

Yep that is the perfect(ly) wrong stereotype. Keep going with it though.

yep...a few different families that I know did that...some for religious reasons and some just didn't like what the local school systems had to offer...

I was skeptical...but I have to admit that for the most part, they all turned out to be exceedingly smart and well adjusted kids...

in fact, most all of them have scholarships to SEC universities and are doing well in some damn tough majors...

my sister and the kids are well-rounded and brilliant. see the show The Willis Family. They are all home schooled.

The Partridge Family of the times.

no 'friends' but mine are. We don't home school them. We play a former teacher to 'teach' them for us. Best thing I have ever done for my kids.

Yep. CEO and VP of software both do it.

CEO's kids are smart as shite. Like entering college at 16 smart.

The whole social misfit thing is a bunch of BS. Public school kids are far more likely to be social misfits.

We homeschooled andI'd like to think successfully. One of my daughters good friends graduated from college at 17. She's got her PhD now at age 24 or 25. Excelling academically seems to be a given with homeschooling these days. But I think the social and family aspects or even greater.

I've got three acquaintances who have home schooled kids. All the kids are well adjusted, polite, mature, smart individuals. Credits to the home school movement.

I know a few people that home school their kids because they think that the school system is shite.

That and their kids were kicked out of school.

Although they don't like to bring that part up.

I see it as the wave of the future for education. The 'teacher' gets to pick and choose who the students are. No discipline problems. Small class sizes. More one on one learning. Cheaper than 'private' school. What's the drawback???
