Yeah, I read this as checkmate from the restaurant guy's point of view, mostly from my experience answering support emails. He admitted the frick up, offered a refund, said he was taking care of the website, didn't need to go beyond that. The authorities have better things to do.

I have seen a few examples of website menu prices not matching current restaurant prices. It's usually a local owned place, but not always. I kind of expect it now and don't get too crybaby about it. I have noted it to the staff before (Hey, you might tell whoever handles the website ...") but did not ask for a refund or threaten legal action.

Too many academics are like this guy. The biggest pussies and thin-skinned grievance filers you ever want to encounter. I hope he gets fired and has to teach at a community college and deliver Chinese food to make ends meet.

ok, no way I'm the only one that read the restaurant's responses in their head in a Chinese accent. Can't believe nobody has said this yet

I'm guessing the restaurant guy is the one that "leaked" this e-mail chain.

If so, he's completely taking the Hah-vahd professor to school in the art of business tactics.

I don't think he needs to be fired but, if I was his student, I would certainly be taking his lessons on negotiating with a huge arse grain of salt from here on out. I was making more successful and pleasant defenses against being overcharged for crap when I was 14.
