When you make 30k a year and live with a chick you knocked up and married right before you deployed you don't pay taxes baw, in fact you probably get extra free money at tax time

You mean the concept of "honor" is more important to people who volunteered to risk their lives in whatever battle their country put them in than it is to you and me, who chose not to participate? Shocking stuff.

I have seen people want to put others in jail for it. You know for dressing and wearing a uniform.

How does "stolen valor" hurt someone that has actual valor? It does not. What does tarnish valor in my opinion, is acting like a child on a school playground because someone took your toy or actually more like crying because someone is wearing a knock off brand of your bona fide Nike's.

I have great admiration and respect for those that volunteered to serve and will remember those that died in their service over this weekend. I have little regard for those that come back act like they are better than those that did not serve, or spend their time drawing attention to themselves by going after "stolen valor".

You are not. I hate the constant sniveling about Memorial day. If an American wants to Grill for Memorial day, they shouldn't be made to feel guilty by a former service member.

I am a Veteran and I approve this message!

As a vet I say enjoy life. If it isn't illegal, choice and FREE will come into play. Those are two things worth defending imo, even I find something or someone morally offensive and objectionable. Fake veterans obviously have issues. In that situation I hope I would let him know that his behavior was offensive and do so without losing it. Who knows though, I have not been in that spot before. At any rate, enjoy the weekend rantards.

I've never been one to go out and party just because it's a 3 day weekend, maybe it's because every generation of my family has served for the United States since the Revolutionary War.

It's a day for me to pay respects to my family and their friends they served with, personally - Not a day to get shithoused on a river. I do kinda get a little irritated with people that completely forget about the meaning and thank me for the years that I served. I didn't do much, certainly didn't get killed. Thank my grandfather that served in WW2, my great grandfather for his service in WW1, etc.

But do they have to be mutually exclusive? I can still honor my family who served in Vietnam and WWII who are no longer with us this weekend while still grilling out and going swimming. Shaming people who decide to enjoy the three day weekend and assuming they don't honor those who died in service because they do is just as shitty as those who have no clue why we have the long weekend to begin with.

Fake veterans are more an object of pity....and ridicule...just like the guys who wear decorations they haven't earned...

Folks, enjoy the holiday however you want...it would be nice to take a moment to remember those who died in the service of their country

Champagne, If you need to talk about dealing with the VA, let me know....I've had to learn more than I ever thought I would about the entire system

When I was junior enlisted I paid federal and state every month. At the end of the year I actually owed state around $300 and got back maybe $200 from federal (much less than I paid). Not everyone is in the military because they knocked someone up and got married at 18, believe it or not. They exist, but they're a small minority.

BTW- my starting pay was around $850 a month, before taxes, in the 90's, so if you "paid my salary" thanks a fricking lot.

Has anyone corrected these idiots accusing Indy of not serving before?

Indy served in Iraq and Afghanistan. You people suck.

I'm trying to forget those days. God pay sucked. I don't know how guys supported families then. The first few months it was cool. By the 24 month mark I picked up a second job to pay the bills.

Yep. I worked nights at Blockbuster and I knew lots of guys who worked second jobs back then. Another reason the "we paid your salary" thing is stupid. You also had to pay out $100 a month if you wanted the GI Bill.

As somebody who served the whole concept of stolen valor is stupid. stolen valor is when you receive money for pretending to have served, at least thats how it started.I agree with this concept, but it was already covered under other laws. Now its evolved into assholes videos and screaming at pretty much everyone in uniform until its proven the person actually did serve. Its stupid and 99% of the time the person doing the confronting is a much much bigger a-hole.

Also the memorial day stuff is retarded. It goes along with the poor me attitude 75% of the military has.

And i can only apeak for the army and aome of the marines i was around.....95% of the people i knew while in, joined for reasons other than just serving the country. Also in my experience most enlisted members are dumb as frick until you get to e7 guys.

wat
E7 is when the stupidity really ramps up. Most of the smart guys are gone or commissioned in 10 years. For the majority of E7's (in the Army at least), it's a 'thanks for hanging around for 15 years' rank. That's when you start thinking that color coordinating sandbags is a brilliant idea.

Well i didnt say they were smart but they are usually smart enough to be able to know whats going on. Bottomline is most enlisted no matter rank have a high chance kf being dumb as shite.

Fuuk you. Come back and start another thread when you are a veteran. Until then I'll consider you and all the other know-it-all pukes too ignorant to even speak with

You should watch your mouth when you are speaking to the people who paid your salary and still are paying for all of your current and future benefits.

The people that paid my salary sure as hell wasn't these pussified ignorant millennials AND they aren't paying a dam penny for benefits for me now. These ignorant pukes talk about something they know nothing about from behind their keyboards. I'm not mad as some of the ignorant little pukes may think. I simply stated a facts. I am not "butthurt" in any way. I am not mad in any way. I came to grips with this a long time ago. I have low expectations of them and they fail to meet them every time. Annnnd so, fuuk all the little pukes out there that have no idea concerning this subject.
